The City is proposing Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 3978, 2024; which will clarify the types of uses that are permitted in the following zones: C-1, C-1A, C-1B, C-1C, C-2, C-3, C-4, C-4C, C-4D, PA-1, RM-1, RM-2, RM-3, and RM-4. Proposed amendments, seek to prohibit uses such as supervised consumption sites and other social care facilities, escort services, massage parlours, motels, gas stations and vehicle sales in existing commercial zones in the downtown core, east of Dogwood Street. These uses are not considered to align with efforts to revitalize the City’s downtown. Current businesses operating these uses will be categorized as “legal non-conforming uses,” permitting them to continue operating at their existing location.
