The Norm Woods Environmental Center (NWEC) will see its treatment facility get necessary upgrades
needed to improve its operations in the third and final phase of the NWEC Upgrade project. The
engineering consultant WSP has assisted the city in prioritizing the growth strategies and estimated
timelines. WSP has completed the design services for this phase, which consists of a new emergency
backup power supply, an E-House to expand the electrical room and MCC, in addition to increasing
capacity of the digester aeration units for the digester treatment process. It also includes an upgraded
septage receiving station and access terminal, as well as the addition of plant controls through SCADA
integration which will be led by True North Solutions.
