AGRICULTURE PLAN
Agriculture Now: Growing a Strong Agriculture Sector in Campbell River, establishes a vision, objectives, targets and potential actions that will guide the City of Campbell River and other partner organizations towards creating an attractive and welcoming environment to grow a resilient agriculture sector in Campbell River. Agriculture Now was unanimously adopted by City Council as well as endorsed by the Province of B.C. Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Jobs, Innovation, and Tourism.
During the development of this plan, stakeholders and the community contributed to crafting the vision for agriculture in Campbell River. The resulting vision statement has provided overall guidance for developing Agriculture Now, and the objectives and action areas presented in the plan work to support and achieve this vision. With an emphasis on food self-sufficiency being a strong theme within the community and stakeholder groups, the vision for Agriculture Now contains a target to have the capacity to produce 10% of its own food by 2031, which would allow the agriculture sector to directly contribute significantly to the value of the local economy.
