For all application types there are minimum submission requirements, these requirements will be identified by City staff during a pre-application meeting or a submission meeting. Prior to submitting any new application documents please contact planning@campbellriver.ca to be connected with a planner who will review your proposal and provide direction on next steps.

Pre-application meeting

A pre-application meeting is required for all applications other than: Development Variance Application seeking variance to Zoning Bylaw, 3250, 2006; Environmental Development Permit only pertaining to Eagles and Great Blue Herons nests, and setbacks to defined ditches; Hazardous Development Permit pertaining to Flood, Wildfire, and Steep Slopes; Minor Form and Character Development Permits for 1-9 units. A $450 fee is required for a pre-application meeting.

More information on the types of applications that are required to have a pre-application meeting can be found in the City of Campbell River Development Applications and Delegation Bylaw 3955, 2024.  The intent of the pre-application meeting is to get timely internal comments to an applicant on their proposal earlier in the process and for the City to receive complete applications in order to expedite application timelines.

Submission meeting

A meeting for applications that are not required to have a pre-application meeting. There is no fee is associated with this meeting. The intent of the submission meeting is to review the requirements for submission for applications that are exempt from a required pre-application meeting. Prior to submitting any documentation to the City please contact planning@campbellriver.ca to speak with a planner who will review the submission requirements with you.
