Sewermain Replacement Project 2023

Work under this contract consists of the rehabilitation of approximately 5 km of existing sanitary sewer  mains installing Cured In Place Pipe (CIPP) lining via trenchless technology. The work is being delivered in segments by working from manhole to manhole.

Preconstruction cleaning commenced in October 2023. The liner installation is expected to complete by the end of 2023.

The following locations are targeted for rehabilitation in 2023.  Further investigation is currently underway to confirm individual suitability for our sewer lining program:

• Cedar Street from 3^rd Avenue to 6^th Avenue
• Frederick Crescent from Cedar Street to the East
• Maria Grove from Cedar Street to the East
• 4^th Avenue from Birch Street to Island Hwy 19A
• 3^rd Avenue from Birch Street to Island Hwy 19A
• 2^nd Avenue from Cedar Street to Island Hwy 19A
• McCarthy Street from 2^nd Avenue to 4^th Avenue
• Coronation Crescent to 2^nd Avenue
• Alder Street from 2^nd Avenue to 4^th Avenue
• McLean Street from 1^st Avenue to 4^th Avenue
• Thulin Street from 1^st Avenue to 4^th Avenue
• All laneways from 1^st to 4^th Avenue between Birch Street and the Island Hwy

The final cost of this project is anticipated to be approximately 1.5m. Council approved the budget in the 2023 Capital Plan and the project is funded through sewer reserves.

Design has been completed by the City’s Capital Works and Liquid Waste Services Departments. RFP 19-14 was approved by City Council and awarded to Insituform Technologies Ltd.

The City of Campbell River (the City) is completing sewer rehabilitation and maintenance in various locations around Campbell River from Thursday, November 9 to Sunday, December 10, 2023. Work will be completed from Birch Street to the Island Highway between 1^st and 4^th Avenue, as well as on Cedar Street from 2^nd to 6^th Avenue. Residence may experience minor delays during scheduled work, which will take place on Mondays to Saturdays, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Please follow all signage and traffic controls in place.
