Fire Safety House Program
As part of our fire prevention program, each fall fire prevention staff and firefighters visit schools with the Fire Safety House to provide fire safety training to all grade three students.
Fire Chief for a Day
The Fire Chief for a Day program runs in conjunction with the Fire Safety House program. After the Fire Safety House finishes its tours, one lucky grade three student is selected to be Fire Chief for a Day. It's a great opportunity for children to get a firsthand look at daily operations in the fire department and to work side-by-side with our firefighters.
Annual Open House
Each year the fire department invites the public to #1 Station to learn all about the many services provided. There are exciting demonstrations and hands-on activities including the opportunity to see the City from 101 feet in the air in the aerial bucket! This is a fun, family-friendly event that usually takes place on the second Saturday in May, running in conjunction with Emergency Preparedness Week.
The open house is currently on hold due to Covid-19.
Fire Station Tours
To minimize potential exposure to COVID-19, station tours are suspended until further notice. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
The Campbell River Fire Department offers station tours to schools and community groups. You will learn about fire safety from our firefighters, learn about fire trucks and equipment and do other fun activities. Tours last 30 – 60 minutes, depending on the age group, and take place at the No. 1 Fire Station, 675 13th Ave.
Book a Station Tour
Please book at least two weeks ahead. You will need to provide group details such as age of children, number of children, and number of adults attending.
Call 250-286-6266 to book your group tour.
The Day of the Tour
Parking is available behind the No. 1 Fire Station on Cypress St. and in front of the fire station on Dogwood St. Please do not block any bay doors.
When you arrive, please have one chaperone check in at the front counter. A fire fighter will meet the group and invite everyone into the station.
We may cancel or interrupt tours if firefighters need to attend an emergency.
