Opening date still to be determined
A burst pipe has delayed opening Campbell River’s outdoor pool this summer.
When the COVID-19 pandemic closed the pool for public safety reasons last year, the City went ahead with maintenance improvements to the pool’s plumbing systems. During the pool systems start-up last week, a specialty pipe fitting in the mechanical room burst. City employees and a maintenance contractor have completed the repair and are now confirming that all new system improvements are working as intended.
“We understand this temporary delay is very disappointing, especially because the weather is so hot now, and we know people have been looking forward to using the pool again after it was closed last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” says Amber Zirnhelt, the City’s director of planning and recreation. “We were preparing to announce that the pool was ready to open when this part burst and began to leak water.
