HELP MAP THE FUTURE OF THE CAMPBELL RIVER AIRPORT

Attend one of the City of Campbell River’s (the City’s) engagement sessions on September 23 or October 3, 2024, to discuss the Campbell River Airport’s draft 2024-2029 Strategic Plan.

The City of Campbell River Airport (YBL) is developing a five-year strategic plan and is seeking input from community members. Two engagement sessions will be held to enable as many residents as possible to participate:

    Session 1:

    When: Monday, September 23, 2024, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Where: Campbell River Airport Terminal Building (1-2000 Jubilee Parkway)

    Session 2:

    When: Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Where: Campbell River Community Centre (401-11th Avenue)

Light refreshments will be provided at both sessions.

“Improving and streamlining operations at the Campbell River Airport was one of the reasons that I ran for Council,” says Mayor Kermit Dahl. “The five-year strategic plan will guide the future of the Campbell River Airport for years to come and it is important that we hear from residents and consider their vision when finalizing this document. I invite everyone to attend one of these sessions to talk with City staff, Council and consultants, learn about the airport and get involved in the future of YBL.”

The community engagement sessions will be hosted by the City and IPSOS Inc. in collaboration with Pat Maloney Consulting. Participants will be guided through themed discussions to collect community input, including:

    • How the airport can better serve residents, businesses, and visitors
    • How the airport and the land around it can contribute to Campbell River’s economy

“The 2024-2029 Strategic Plan builds on the foundation laid by the 2016 Master Plan and updates goals and objectives for the Campbell River Airport,” said Dennis Brodie, Airport Manager. “It is important that we incorporate the community’s ideas in the finalized draft plan for Council’s consideration. We hope you will join us for engaging conversations with other residents at one of the upcoming sessions.”

The feedback collected at the engagement sessions will be presented, along with recommended edits to the draft strategic plan, for Council’s consideration in November 2024.
