City extends partnership with Province to offer rebate top-ups for heat pumps until March 31, 2024.
The City of Campbell River (the City) is extending its partnership with the Province so that Campbell River homeowners can benefit from municipal rebate top-ups when they switch from a fossil fuel (oil, natural gas, or propane) heating system to an electric air source heat pump. The City is offering a $350 top-up to the CleanBC Better Homes and BC Hydro rebate for electric air source heat pumps.
Heat pumps are the most energy-efficient, climate-friendly heating systems available in B.C. and provide the added bonus of central air conditioning for those warm nights, without the need to purchase and maintain a separate system.
“Each resident who increases their home’s energy efficiency is helping the community to reduce our overall greenhouse gas emissions, something that the City strongly supports as a signatory to the B.C. Climate Action Charter,” says Jason Locke, acting Director of Community Planning and Livability. “It is exciting to partner with the Province again this year on a program that promotes climate action and saves residents money on energy costs.”
The City’s top-up, in place since July 2022, is available until March 31, 2024. Once again, the City is providing $15,000 in funding towards the program from the Climate Action Reserve Fund. The program is administered by the BC Government and rebates will be approved on a first-come, first-serve basis.
