PROPERTY TAX PAYMENTS REMINDER - JUNE 2022Payments are due by Monday, July 4, 2022.
The City of Campbell River reminds property owners that property tax payments are due by Monday, July 4, 2022. Property owners should have received tax notices in the mail earlier this month; those who have not yet received a tax notice should contact the City’s Finance Department at 250-286-5715.
With the property tax notice, is a brochure outlining all accepted methods of payment, as well as information on how to claim the 2022 home owner grant through the Province. The brochure also includes an invitation to register your property tax account online and sign up for eBilling, which will offer the option to receive tax notices by email and other convenient services starting in 2023.
Regardless of payment method, property taxes must be paid and home owner grants claimed on or before July 4, 2022, to avoid a 10 percent penalty. The City accepts post-dated cheques, debit cards in person, and credit card payments online and in person. A 2% cost recovery fee applies for all credit card payments. Please ensure debit card transaction limits will cover the amount of taxes due.
The total amount owing on the City property tax notices includes collections for other government agencies. By provincial law, the City is the designated tax collector for many other government agencies. Those amounts on the City’s tax notice labelled Net School Taxes and Net Other Government Taxes are set by other agencies and passed on directly to those agencies. The City collects property taxes on behalf of the School District, Strathcona Regional District, Regional Hospital District, Regional Solid Waste, Regional Library, BC Assessment Authority and the Municipal Finance Authority.
