“Signing up for reminders will help people keep current on future collection schedule changes. You will also receive notices if there are delays due to weather or when there is new waste disposal information available,” says Drew Hadfield, the City’s director of operations.
To reduce waste management costs, landfills in the Comox Valley and Strathcona Regional districts are no longer open on stat holidays. Following this week’s holiday Monday, Campbell River’s curbside collection moved forward one weekday.
Collection from households previously on Monday routes moved to Tuesday, Tuesday routes moved to Wednesday and so on. Friday collection moved to Monday, May 31 because there is no curbside collection on Saturday or Sunday. Collection days will bump forward again for every future stat holiday that falls on a weekday.
