    Vote during advance voting, October 12, or on general election day, October 15

    Eligible voters are encouraged to vote for one Mayor and six Councillors for a four-year term during the local government election. Advance voting is available at the Community Centre - 401 11th Avenue on Wednesday, October 12, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. General voting day is on Saturday, October 15, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Campbell River Community Centre - 401 11th Avenue and Southgate Middle School - 740 Holm Road.

    “City Council’s decisions affect so much of our daily lives, from essential service provisions, such as water treatment and garbage collection, to developments in the City, community events and so much more,” says City Manager, Deborah Sargent. “The local general election is the community’s opportunity to have their say on who will be on Campbell River City Council for the next four years. If you haven’t already, get out and vote on Wednesday, October 12, during advance voting or Saturday, October 15, on General Election Day. Your vote matters!”

    Am I eligible to vote?

    You are qualified to vote as a Resident Elector in the City of Campbell River if you meet the following criteria:

    • You will be age 18 or older on general voting day (October 15, 2022);
    • You are a Canadian citizen; AND
    • You have been a resident of BC for at least 6 months immediately before the day you register to vote; AND
    • You are not disqualified by the Local Government Act, the School Act, or any other enactment from voting in an election nor are you otherwise disqualified by law from voting.

    Can I vote if I am not registered?

    Yes. Any person who is eligible to vote and is not registered may register at an Advance Poll or on Election Day.  When you attend the voting location to register and vote, bring at least two pieces of identification confirming your identity and place of residence (one of which must contain your signature); or 2 pieces of identification confirming your identity (one of which must contain your signature) and you will be required to make a solemn declaration as to your place of residence.

    When can we expect the results? 

    Preliminary results are expected to be published on Saturday, October 15, 2022, following the closure of the voting stations. The City will announce the result on the City website and across social media channels. A declaration of the Official 2022 Municipal Election results for the City of Campbell River will be made the following week.
