Campbell River's curbside waste collection schedule changing after May long weekend

Campbell River’s curbside garbage, recycling and yard waste collection schedule is changing after the May long weekend.

Starting May 25, following each statutory holiday, regular collection will move forward one weekday.

That means Monday collection will move to Tuesday, Tuesday to Wednesday and so on. Friday collection will move to Monday because there is no curbside collection on Saturday or Sunday.

“This add-a-day schedule change is happening for all communities in the Comox Valley and Strathcona regional districts,” explains Drew Hadfield, director of operations for the City of Campbell River. “To reduce costs, regional landfills will no longer be open to accept waste collected on statutory holidays. The contractor cannot collect two days’ worth of waste on the same day, so all routes will move forward by one day to ensure that collection continues.”
