    City hosts 20th Annual Environmental Stewardship Awards

    2021 Group Shot-reducedEach year the City of Campbell River celebrates outstanding environmental ambassadors for their diligent work with the Environmental Stewardship Awards program. Recipients of the awards are recognized in several categories for actions such as restoring green spaces, advocating for safe places for wildlife, and improving air or water purity.

    “We are very fortunate to have so many dedicated conservationists who are doing great work protecting our environment and natural areas. They are exemplary role models, and the whole community benefits from their work and leadership,” says Acting Mayor Charlie Cornfield. “It is through this collaboration that more of this important work can be accomplished.”

    As part of this year’s program, individuals, groups, businesses, industry representatives and youth were eligible for recognition under six stewardship categories. The City congratulates all the nominees for their achievements, including those stewards who were recognized in the following categories:<

    •      Ricki Moore –Air Quality/Alternative Transportation
    •      Dawn Summer Langerak and Teena Edmundson –Pesticide Free/Urban Agriculture
    •      Ray Goodwin –Waste Reduction
    •      Ian Moul –Habitat
    •      Benji Bridle –Youth Special Recognition
    •      Sandra Milligan –Environmental Excellence

    The annual recognition ceremony was held at that Haig-Brown House as part of BC River’s Day events.
