More rain overnight - monitoring continues on water levels and potential flooding

- With more rain expected tonight, monitoring of water levels and potential flooding continues.
- Once the rain stops, the flood risk will decrease – but water levels in the river will still run fast and high.
- Without significant storm systems in the forecast over the coming days, BC Hydro plans to continue to send high volumes of water out of the lakes through the Campbell River to bring water levels back within normal range for this time of year – and to have room to absorb high volumes of water anticipated in future storms.
- BC Hydro will modify flow levels to accommodate high tides in an effort to prevent localized flooding in low-lying areas along the river. (The highest tides will occur over the holidays – about one foot higher than high tides this week!)
- Expect high and fast-flowing water in the rivers for up to two weeks.
- Emergency calls for water, sewer or road service, please phone 250-286-4033 during regular work hours, 250-287-7444 after hours.
- Sand and sandbags will continue to be available through the Dogwood Operations Centre to assist in shoring up the river banks if necessary. People must fill their own sandbags and should bring along a shovel to 385 S. Dogwood Street.
