The City of Campbell River is requesting input on potential updates to Development Permit Area Guidelines for Bald Eagle Trees, Steep Slopes and Great Blue Heron nest trees. The intent of the proposed changes is to:

  • consider Great Blue Heron nest trees and their habitat;
  • slow habitat loss for both Great Blue Herons and Bald Eagles;
  • improve slope stability, while considering environmental values and potential hazards to people and property; and
  • improve the clarity of the Development Permit Guidelines, which regulate the interface between the environment and land uses within these areas.

If approved, corresponding updates will be made to the Environmental Protection Bylaw.

To gain community feedback on the proposed changes,
an online survey has been created and can be accessed here.
Survey closes Nov. 30, 2021 at 4p.m.

A virtual public meeting has been scheduled for November 24, 2021 from 6 to 7 p.m. If you wish to participate, please email:
