A downtown go-to eatery is building success on a local focus that brings people together.

Along with only-in-Campbell-River craft beer and a modern spin on innovative cuisine, Beach Fire Brewing & Nosh House has created a public space that brings people together – at long tables that encourage strangers to talk to each other.

Beach Fire’s three passionate owners () opened their doors in November 2016 to “a more intimate experience, a space where people can commune” and leave having had a good conversation with people they’d never met before, says Matthew.

By offering beer and food that you can only get in Campbell River, Beach Fire Brewing provides visitors a one-of-a-kind taste of what the community has to offer.

Beach Fire’s locally-minded vision and communal atmosphere complement its support for community initiatives such as the Campbell River Salmon Foundation and the Campbell River Association for Community Living. The brewery is also a big supporter of the Campbell River Bike Park Society.

“We really support efforts to building biking culture, and making our city more bike friendly,” Matthew adds.

Beach Fire Brewing’s downtown location has contributed to the City’s initiatives to make the heart of the community more inviting, and Matthew hopes the development of the 3.5-acre waterfront property will bring more people downtown.

Open house event Tuesday, Sept. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Campbell River Community Centre Lounge (401-11th Ave.) will present the Waterfront Task Force’s vision for the 3.5 acre site that has grown through the public consultation process and incorporates the community’s ideas. The long-term planning and development framework for this property will also be shared. There will be an opportunity for public feedback.
