Wildfire Preparedness Day

🚒 Join us at Firehall #1, 675 13th Avenue for Wildfire Preparedness Day, Sunday, May 5, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This free event is a great opportunity to learn more about the threats of wildfire and get tips to help you and your neighbours FireSmart your homes and reduce wildfire risks. 🌲🔥🌲🏠

Stop by for a hot dog, check out the City Fire Department’s specialized wildfire equipment, watch a demonstration of the City’s structural protection equipment, and learn about some of the simple things you can do to protect your home and neighbourhood, including taking advantage of the City’s free FireSmart Home Assessment Program.

“Wildfire preparedness has become increasingly important in British Columbia,” says Shawn Hall, FireSmart Coordinator. “FireSmart principles have shown that they are effective at reducing the risk to life and property in the most extreme wildfire conditions and we are excited to welcome residents to Fire Hall #1 to show them around and share this important information.”
